Emirates Open Days and Recruitment Events (Updated 2018)

Have you always dreamed of becoming a cabin crew for Emirates airlines? Are you curious to learn more about this company's recruitment process? Well, you came to the right place!

Emirates operates the largest fleet of Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s in the world. It currently serves 159 destinations on six continents with these 269 modern aircraft. Successful applicants will join a multinational team of cabin crew with more than 135 nationalities.

In this article, I'll detail the different steps that Emirates airways use to recruit new candidates and what to expect at each step of the way.

Candidates wishing to submit their resume may present themselves with a current curriculum vitae in English and a recent photo. Pre-registration is not required to attend the open day.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

First, take note of the requirements to apply that you can find on Emirates official website or you can simply read them below.

Emirates Airways Requirements

  • Be 21 years old on the day of your departure to Dubai. You can apply before your 21st birthday, but you must be at least 20 years old.
  • Have a minimum of a high school degree. If you have further education, this is a bonus ๐Ÿ˜‰.
  • Speak English fluently (writing and speaking). Know that the recruitment, training, your work, everything is done in English. Your colleagues will come from all over the world, and you may only have English in common to understand each other. In addition, mastering additional languages is an asset as well.
  • Measure at least 160 cm in height and reach 212 with one hand, on tiptoes. The company is strict on this rule since some equipment in the plane are high, they want to make sure that you're able to reach all necessary equipment. So you do not have to rely on the heels of your shoes.
  • No visible tattoo's while working for Emirates (neck, hand tattoos for example) nor any tattoo coverings are allowed.
  • Open to diversity and multi-culture environment
  • Fit and healthy to be able to withstand long hour work schedule and able to cope with stress

Emirates Open Day

Cabin Crew Open Days

To join the company, you must participate in either an Open Day or an Assessment Day. The company organizes events regularly in different countries. The difference is simple:

  • To participate in an assessment day (abbreviated as AD), you must complete an online application form (in the "Cabin Crew Opportunities" tab of the Emirates website). If you are shortlisted, you will receive an invitation to a recruitment day reserved for those who received their invitation.
  • To participate in an open day (abbreviated OD), no need to fill out an online file beforehand. All you have to do is present on the day scheduled for the company, a CV in English and a photo as well.

The OD has only one test in addition to the AD. Firstly, recruiters will start by collecting the candidate CVs. It is therefore essential that you refine your resume to the maximum, that it sells you as never before. Know that in some OD, you can be more than 150 candidates, recruiters do not always have the time to read your CV in detail.

Make it readable, highlight your strengths for the position (spoken languages, past experiences), work the layout. In short, make a complete resume.

And above all, do it well in English, not in any other language! Recruiters may hold events at your country, but it doesn't mean they speak your native language.

What's next?

If the assessors keep your resume, you can then be invited to attend further test through an assessment day, AD.

You will take two group discussion tests, as well as an English test. A selection is made between each event, if you fail a test you will unfortunately not pass as a result.

Following the group discussion, you have a 101 final interview with the recruiters, always in English.

And that will be the end of the tests you will have to take. If successful, you'll have to provide documents such as a photocopy of your passport, photos "casual" and "formal", a photocopy of your bachelor's degree. The rest of the recruitment is done in Dubai, where all the files are analyzed. After your interview, you'll hear a positive answer or not in 4 to 6 weeks, sometimes less but that it is rare.

IF YOU PASS!

If you're selected, you'll receive a call, the famous "Golden Call". Congratulations! But do not resign right away if you are employed elsewhere, the company must first check your eligibility for the Emirati visa. It will also be necessary to fill out a medical record and pass a few additional tests.

Once all is validated, you will receive your final approval. Congratulations, you are now hired as a flight attendant for Emirates Airlines!

By the way, the process can be long and some may wait a year and more while going back and forth. Despite that, you shouldn't give up on your dream and you fill out an application as soon as they're positions available.

APPLY HERE

For Emirates, the careers portal website is open for new applications; however, the page has been redesigned, and the videos of their cabin crew, as well as the advice they offer to potential candidates, are priceless. I encourage you to check them out even if Emirates is not the airline you wish to apply for. Visit their career site directly! or see below:

    1. Be patient, if your application is successful you'll be invited to attend an event. Meanwhile, apply to your national airline and others as well to increase your chances of recruitment.

  5. Hi and thank for all the useful tips but there is still 1 thing that is not 100% clear to me..Should I expect an assessment day on the opening day? And if I apply online and my application would be successful what would be the next step? Also would you advise to attend an opening day or online application ? Thank you in advance! 6. Hi, no worries, you're asking the right questions. You have to apply online first! if your application is successful, you'll then be informed and asked to attend an assessment day (you'll get an invitation through email) meanwhile, if there is an open day (no invitation is required) event held somewhere that you go to, then you can take the necessary documents, cv & photos...etc depending on what their asking and speak to the recruiters in person. Good luck
